Acne. Fine lines. Hair growth. Pain. Body contouring.
With so many Celluma devices available, choosing the right one can feel a little overwhelming.
The good news? You don't necessarily need the device with the most features. The best place to start is by asking:
What do I want to treat?
From there, you can consider how much coverage you need, whether you want something portable, and whether you want to target multiple concerns with one device.
This guide breaks down the current Celluma range to help you find the right fit.
First, what do the different Celluma treatment modes do?
Celluma devices use different combinations of blue, red and near-infrared light depending on the treatment programme selected.
The current range includes five main treatment modes:
ACNE
Designed to target C. acnes bacteria and help reduce mild to moderate acne vulgaris and breakouts.
Look for a device with ACNE mode if acne is one of your main concerns.
AGEING
The AGEING programme is designed to improve the appearance of skin, including fine lines, wrinkles and skin texture.
You'll find AGEING mode across much of the Celluma range.
PAIN
The PAIN programme is designed for muscles, joints and arthritic pain, as well as supporting circulation and reducing inflammation.
If aches and pains are one of your priorities, look for a device with PAIN mode.
CONTOUR
The CONTOUR programme is specifically designed for body contouring.
Importantly, Celluma states that the CONTOUR programme is a different programme and algorithm from its other treatment modes, and it should not simply be treated as another version of the AGEING or PAIN programmes.
HAIR GROWTH
This is a dedicated treatment programme for hair restoration.
And this is important:
The AGEING/Wrinkle programme is not the same as the HAIR programme.
If hair restoration is your goal, choose a Celluma with the dedicated HAIR GROWTH mode. Celluma currently identifies RESTORE, NOVA, ELITE and CONTOUR PLUS as the devices specifically designed and FDA-cleared for hair restoration.
Which Celluma should you choose?
I mainly want to treat acne and ageing skin
Celluma FACE
If your priorities are acne + ageing, the Celluma FACE keeps things simple.
It is a compact, battery-powered device with two treatment modes:
ACNE + AGEING
It is designed to fit over the face from eyebrows to chin, while its flexible design can also be used on other areas of the body.
Choose FACE if:
You primarily want to focus on facial acne and signs of ageing and don't need a pain or body-contouring programme.
I want acne, ageing AND pain relief
You have a few options here.
Celluma LITE
The LITE gives you:
ACNE + AGEING + PAIN
It is a compact, battery-powered panel and is essentially the smaller, more portable alternative to the larger PRO.
Choose LITE if:
You want three treatment modes in a compact, portable format.
Celluma PRO
The PRO also offers:
ACNE + AGEING + PAIN
The key difference is the larger panel, providing greater treatment coverage than the compact devices. It is also battery-powered and designed for portability.
Choose PRO if:
You want the same three core treatment modes but prioritise a larger treatment area.
I want ageing + pain, but acne isn't a priority
Celluma HOME
The HOME is specifically designed around:
AGEING + PAIN
It is a compact, battery-powered device with a treatment area designed for targeted use, including the face.
This makes it a straightforward choice if you're interested in skin rejuvenation and pain management but don't need an acne programme.
Choose HOME if:
Your priorities are ageing skin and aches/pains rather than acne.
I want targeted spot treatments
Celluma POD
The POD is the smallest and most targeted option in the range.
It offers:
ACNE + AGEING + PAIN
But unlike the larger Celluma panels, it's a mini handheld device designed specifically for spot treatments.
It can be used on smaller areas of the face or body and is particularly suited to targeted treatment and travel.
One important distinction: the POD is plug-in only — it is not battery-powered.
Choose POD if:
You want something small, targeted and easy to use on specific areas rather than treating a larger surface area.
I want to target hair growth
This is where it's particularly important to choose the right Celluma.
If hair restoration is your goal, look for a device with the dedicated:
HAIR GROWTH mode
Celluma RESTORE
RESTORE combines:
HAIR GROWTH + AGEING + PAIN
Its compact shape is particularly suited to positioning over the scalp, while it can also be used for facial and body treatments.
Celluma's published hair protocol recommends using Hair mode every other day for 16 weeks, with each treatment lasting 30 minutes.
Choose RESTORE if:
Hair growth is a key priority but you also want ageing and pain modes.
I want EVERYTHING in one compact device
Celluma NOVA
This is one of the biggest changes to the current Celluma range.
The NOVA is a compact, battery-powered 5-mode device.
It offers:
ACNE + AGEING + CONTOUR + HAIR GROWTH + PAIN
So if you want maximum versatility without moving into a large multi-panel system, NOVA is the device to look at.
It can be used across the scalp, face and body and is designed to be portable.
Choose NOVA if:
You want all five treatment modes in one compact, battery-powered device.
I want body contouring
If body contouring is one of your main priorities, make sure the device you choose specifically has CONTOUR mode.
Celluma PRO PLUS
The PRO PLUS offers:
ACNE + AGEING + CONTOUR + PAIN
It is a large, single-panel, battery-powered device.
Celluma describes it as the only battery-powered large-panel Celluma with the Body Contouring programme.
Choose PRO PLUS if:
You want body contouring alongside acne, ageing and pain, but still want the convenience and portability of a single panel.
I want more coverage for body contouring
Celluma CONTOUR
The CONTOUR offers the same four treatment modes as the PRO PLUS:
ACNE + AGEING + CONTOUR + PAIN
But its key difference is the modular multi-panel design, allowing up to three large panels to be used during a treatment.
That means considerably more treatment coverage than the single-panel PRO PLUS.
Celluma's own guidance puts the distinction quite simply:
PRO PLUS = single-panel + battery-powered mobility
CONTOUR = multi-panel + maximum coverage
Choose CONTOUR if:
Body contouring and larger treatment coverage are priorities.
I want body contouring AND hair growth
Celluma CONTOUR PLUS
The CONTOUR PLUS combines:
ACNE + AGEING + CONTOUR + HAIR GROWTH + PAIN
It's an expandable multi-panel system and comes with a small panel specifically suited to the scalp and targeted areas.
This makes it particularly versatile if you want to combine hair restoration with facial, body and contouring treatments.
Choose CONTOUR PLUS if:
You want five treatment modes and the flexibility of a multi-panel system.
I want a professional, multi-panel system
Celluma ELITE
The ELITE is the more comprehensive, stand-mounted option.
It offers all five treatment modes:
ACNE + AGEING + CONTOUR + HAIR GROWTH + PAIN
The system can run up to three panels simultaneously and features a rolling stand and articulating arm.
It is particularly suited to clinics, medical spas, physicians and care facilities, although Celluma also lists home use.
Choose ELITE if:
You want a hands-free, rolling, multi-panel system with comprehensive coverage.
I want full-body LED treatment
Celluma DELUX
The DELUX is different again.
Rather than being a handheld or panel-based device, it is designed to provide full-body treatment.
It offers:
ACNE + AGEING + CONTOUR + PAIN
The Series 2 is available in two sizes, with the XL providing up to nine times the treatment area of a Celluma PRO.
Choose DELUX if:
You want a full-body LED treatment experience rather than targeted treatment.

Still not sure which Celluma is right for you?
The easiest way to decide is to work backwards from your main concern.
ACNE
Consider FACE, LITE, PRO, PRO PLUS, POD, NOVA, CONTOUR, CONTOUR PLUS, ELITE or DELUX.
AGEING
Every device in the current range offers an ageing programme, although the ideal choice depends on whether you also want acne, pain, contouring, hair growth or greater coverage.
PAIN
Consider HOME, POD, LITE, PRO, RESTORE, PRO PLUS, NOVA, CONTOUR, CONTOUR PLUS, ELITE or DELUX.
HAIR GROWTH
Choose a device with the dedicated HAIR GROWTH mode: RESTORE, NOVA, CONTOUR PLUS or ELITE.
BODY CONTOURING
Look for CONTOUR mode: PRO PLUS, NOVA, CONTOUR, CONTOUR PLUS, ELITE or DELUX.
MAXIMUM VERSATILITY
For all five treatment modes in one device, look at NOVA, CONTOUR PLUS or ELITE. The difference is primarily the format, coverage and portability.
It's not about choosing the biggest device
When choosing your Celluma, more isn't automatically better.
Think about:
Your main concern
What are you actually looking to treat?
Your secondary concerns
Would you benefit from treating more than one concern?
Your treatment area
Are you treating your face, scalp, a specific area of the body or larger areas?
Your lifestyle
Do you want something you can easily move around and travel with?
Your coverage
Would you prefer targeted treatment or a larger/multi-panel system?
Your budget
There is a Celluma at several different price points, so you don't necessarily need to invest in the most comprehensive system to address your particular concern.
Find the Celluma that fits your goals
